Salthalus

Salthalus is a powerful, aged sorceress who lives in a small, darkened hut on the edge of the village. Although she has managed to gain the trust of the villagers over the years, few people besides Alexandria and Matthew visit her.

A very patient teacher, Salth has been Alexandria's mentor in magic since Alex was roughly seven. Ever since, she's used a weak spell to make herself appear younger than she is by roughly thirty or so years. Anyone with even the faintest experience in magic can see through the disguise, including Matthew and Jacob, who've each been unintended (sometimes intended) targets of enough of Alex's spells to have an eye for magic.

Salth herself is among the most powerful mages in the Landis Kingdom, if not the known world. She was one of the mages who imprisoned Marzos many years ago in the Healing Springs. However, even she fears him now that he is once again free.

Given Alex's frequent magic disasters when she's in an experimenting mood, Salth is fairly good friends with Matt, who usually ends up being the first to tell her something's gone wrong. While Phinn's library contains nothing on magic, Salth's hut is filled with books, notes, scrolls, and all sorts of magic junk, making it the perfect place (Some would say a dangerous place) for Alex to sit around in when she's bored.
