Matthew, brother of Alexandria, is a skilled thief. His thieving is what usually brings money in for both himself and Alex, that and the small crops they plant near the house.

Thoughout his life, Matt has adopted an extremely cynical attitude. Part of this is due to his thief life, where trust is rarely given and even more rarely accepted, but much of it can be attributed to Alex practicing her spells and Matt either frequently having to save the both of them from or winding up as the accidental target of said spells. He does respect the fact that his sister can command great power, it's the fact that she can't always control it that worries him. Matt's become fairly good friends with Salthalus because of this.

Matt is a decently skilled swordsman, so long as he can hold said sword. He prefers short swords and daggers to the huge broadswords that elves and royal armies tend to carry. Besides thievery, Matt also knows a thing or two about weaponcrafting.

His best friend, Jacob, is an even better thief than he is. They frequently hide around larger cities making money in illegal and semi-illegal ways.
